Malaysian policies said to successfully support palm oil prices

In Malaysia, the Malay Mail newspaper reports the plantation industry deputy minister says policies to support palm oil prices including its biodiesel enhancement program and opening new export markets have been successful. More than 85% of the country’s palm oil plantations have received certification under the national sustainability program so far, although the deadline was December 31, 2019 for all farmers to comply.

Pertamina sees Indonesian biodiesel sales falling 12% in 2020

In Indonesia, Reuters reports Pertamina expects 2020 biodiesel sales to fall 12% on the year to 28.2 billion liters. The company told parliament it sees sales rebounding in 2021, however, back up to 31.5 billion liters, of which 26.6 billion liters will be from Pertamina. COVID-19 has significantly impact fuel demand, which has hit biodiesel consumption despite the ever-increasing blending mandate that rose to 30% this year.

China factory, building boom sends iron ore price to 6-year high
